In-Game: Random Thoughts During Mets-Nats

Posted in MetsBlog

3:00 pm: Frankly, win or lose, I’d rather see Bobby Parnell be given the chance to get out of this mess.  He needs to be allowed to pitch through these situations if he’s ever going to be called upon to be a closer.

2:44 pm: The Highlighter industry would collapse if Keith Hernandez switched to scoring games on an iPad.

2:40 pm: Seriously, that has got to be the quickest any manager has ever burned through four outfielders.  Wow, Jerry!

2:33 pm: These beautiful images from SNY’s broadcast of Washington DC, on a calm, warm, sunny day like today, really, really make me miss my days living in Arlington, VA, which, by the way, is where MetsBlog.com was born.

2:20 pm: I don’t think I would have pinch hit for Dickey, who has been a pretty decent hitter this season… It’s a tie game and he’s only thrown 88 pitches.  Nevertheless, Nick Evans hit a ball by Dunn for the go-ahead run… so, yeah, what do I know?

1:57 pm: “He’s throwing up the doo-doo.”  Really, Keith?  Really!?!

1:50 pm: That knuckle ball must have looked like a beach ball to Wilson Ramos, as it had nothing on it… it was a non-knuckleball.

1:17 pm: I don’t know, I just can’t take David Wright seriously in these Lincoln-Mercury commercials… though I LOVE the film quality of him hitting, which is terrific.  Man, I wish they could do a Hard Knocks style show for the Mets during Spring Training.  That’d be awesome.

1:07 pm: I wonder if Jerry Manuel would say I have blogability?

1:00 pm: Adam Dunn might be the most under-appreciated hitter in baseball, and, as such, one of the most divisive.

12:58 pm: I have a Twitter account, which you can find here.

12:53 pm: Josh Thole crowds the plate A LOT.  He’s right on the line.  Yet, he some how manages to pull the ball foul anytime they pitch him in.  I also enjoy his pre-bat routine, with the crouching and repeatedly tapping the bat on the plate… it’s not exact, but, for some reason, it reminds me of Lenny Dykstra.

12:50 pm: Yes, of course I’m a big fan of the Nationals ball girls.

12:42 pm: More than any other pitcher, whenever RA Dickey is on the mound, I’m thinking about a no-hitter.
